Jute, known as "golden thread" in Bangladesh, is the first raw material for Motherhouse. On our 15th Anniversary, we have taken the challenge to develop new Jute fabric. By offering a simplistic backpack shape with plain knitting pattern from our lightweight jute, we expect to bring possibilities of this new sensation.

The History of Our Jute bags
The history of Motherhouse began when our CEO and Chief Designer, Eriko Yamaguchi,
encountered Jute while she was studying in Bangladesh.
For the next 15 years,
we have continuously challenged ourselves to develop various Jute products to help realize its full potential.
Jute X Cotton
At the beginning, we experimented by mixing Jute with cotton. Doing so allowed us to increase the durability of our bags and produce them in a variety of colors.
Washed Jute
Jute that has been washed and firm, so you can enjoy a soft and smooth touch right from the start.
Airy Jute
A lighter Jute that was developed to commemorate our 10th Anniversary. It is a Jute that is natural and full of elegance.
